Senior Geologist / Geo-Environmental Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer: Progress, Develop and make Valued contributions at this supportive and established SME Ground Engineering Company. This role is based in the West Midlands.

Overview

Our client is a successful and well-established geoenvironmental and geotechnical firm delivering a range of contracting and consulting services throughout the Midlands area and beyond. Supported by the wider UK services group, they maintain a distinct culture and identity, while providing ground investigation, contamination surveys and geotechnical services to a large and diverse client base covering the construction, infrastructure and environmental sectors.
 
They are now looking for a Senior Geologist / Geo-environmental Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer with a desire to continue to develop their professional knowledge in a wide range of geological settings and ground related problems. The role involves a mixture of site and office-based work, delivering the full ground investigation and consulting requirement of clients within their supportive and experienced Midlands team. You would also be responsible for the development junior staff and be directly responsible for a small team of engineers, depending on your experience.

Responsibilities
  • Examine and / or cross check geological logging, field testing and field mapping records.
  • Plan detailed field investigations by drilling and analysing samples of deposits / bedrock.
  • Supervise site and ground investigations.
  • Visit new project sites.
  • Make recommendations on the proposed use of a site and provide information.
  • Advise on problems such as subsidence, coal mining and contamination.
  • Manage staff, including other engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, consultants and contractors.
  • Provide quotes to our clients.
  • Attend professional conferences and represent the company or organisation at other events.
  • Deliver quality geological logs / records and overall geological reports.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior geologists and reporting staff.
  • Promote Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) to staff.
 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Geology / Earth Science / Geoscience or equivalent from a UK University.
  • Minimum 5-6 years track record in ground investigation focusing on geological reporting and logging (candidates with fewer years will also be considered on a case-by-case basis).
  • A self-motivated individual contributor and good team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good Project management skills.
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft office and geotechnical software (e.g. Openground, HoleBase).
  • To train and support the junior staff.
  • To manage a small team of engineers (depending on experience).
  • Full UK Driving license (manual transmission).

  • Salary £40,000 - £50,000
  • 31 days holiday which is inclusive of all bank holidays and our Christmas shutdown.
