Senior / Principal Geotechnical Engineer sought at a prestigious, Large Multidisciplinary Consultancy. This role is based in Bristol.

Overview

The are looking for Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to support the delivery of infrastructure programmes, primarily with key clients in the water sector. You will collaborate with our multidisciplinary engineering and design teams while providing support and advice to contractors.
As a senior engineer, you will support the development of junior staff, including graduates and apprentices, providing guidance and mentorship, while continuing to develop your own technical knowledge and understanding of geotechnical engineering.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and contribute to geotechnical design projects across sectors including water, renewables, commercial, and aviation.

Scope and manage site investigations, including field data interpretation and reporting.

Prepare desk studies and interpretative geotechnical reports for ground investigations.

Undertake geotechnical analysis and design of structures such as foundations, slopes, embankments, ground improvements, and retaining walls.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide technical support to contractors.

Contribute to construction phase support and verification of earthworks.

Promote innovative and sustainable engineering solutions, especially on challenging brownfield sites.

Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development and technical leadership.
Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related field.

Chartered membership (or working towards) of ICE, Geological Society, or equivalent.

Strong understanding of UK geotechnical design standards (e.g., CD622, EC7).

Proven Background in Ground investigation techniques and geotechnical testing (in situ and lab).

Writing Geotechnical Design Reports (GDRs) and Earthworks Specifications (EWS); Soil mechanics and soil-structure interaction.

Proficiency in geotechnical software such as Oasys Pile, Alp, PDisp, AdSec, Rocscience Slide, WALLAP, AutoCAD, Excel.

Background using Plaxis 3D or other FE software is a plus.
