Overview

Our client is an award-winning, ambitious multidisciplinary consultancy group with a strong technical reputation. They deliver civil, structural, geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering solutions across the UK, and their work is predominantly residential, for major housebuilders, alongside a portfolio of commercial projects.

For the next phase of their evolution, they are looking to fill this newly created senior leadership role, with oversight of the entire Group. This is a unique opportunity for a commercially astute and operationally driven leader to have genuine autonomy, taking ownership of the Group's operations, with the authority to make decisions and lead the business day to day, while working closely with the Managing Director on Group strategy and growth, including expansion into new sectors.

The Group has a strong order book and an established client base. The focus is on building the teams and delivery capability to match. Primarily based in their North West office, with travel to other key UK locations, you will initially be expected to work from the office, but our client is open to discussing hybrid arrangements for candidates who are not local.

The role
  • Leading operations and delivery across the civil, structural and geotechnical teams, ensuring work is delivered to clients on time and to a high standard
  • Building and developing the teams, including leading on recruitment. Existing professional networks would be an advantage
  • Representing the Group with clients, developing key relationships and securing new business
  • Working alongside the Managing Director on growth strategy, budgets and financial performance

Requirements
  • A background in civil, structural or geotechnical engineering, with the technical credibility to lead engineering teams
  • Track record leading a multidisciplinary engineering team, department or business of comparable size
  • Track record within the residential sector
  • P&L responsibility and a proven record in business development
  • An approachable, fair and firm leadership style. You'll be someone who earns respect and builds strong working relationships within a close-knit team
  • Desirable: Chartered status (CEng or equivalent) and leadership background within an engineering consultancy.

On offer
  • A highly competitive basic salary, plus a performance bonus.
  • Benefits include Vitality private healthcare, holiday that increases with length of service, and a pension scheme.
  • The full package will reflect the seniority of the role of the successful candidate.
