Our client is a specialist consultancy delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions across residential, commercial, and infrastructure development for a range of clients including multinationals, contractors, local authorities, landowners, developers, and planning consultants. Their team’s extensive experience and expertise, and industry responsive attitude, ensures that they are in the best position to provide innovative, multidisciplinary solutions in all of their civil and structural design projects.

They are now seeking a motivated engineer to join their team in Glasgow. This role involves a high degree of site-based work, making it ideal for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on engineering as well as technical reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate site investigations, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Undertake site work including supervising drilling, sampling, monitoring installations, and logging soils/rock.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering professional growth.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships.
  • Design and scope site investigation works, including boreholes, trial pits, and monitoring installations.
  • Interpret geotechnical and geoenvironmental data to provide practical recommendations for foundation design and remediation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and health & safety requirements.
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and deliverables across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Contribute to bids and proposals, supporting business development activities.
  • Attend site meetings and provide technical input during project planning and execution.

Requirements
  • Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical or Geoenvironmental Engineering, or similar discipline
  • 2 – 4 years relevant industry background
  • Proven track record in contaminated land and/or geotechnical assessments.
  • Ability to manage projects independently, balancing technical and commercial priorities.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and delivering client-focused solutions.
  • Full UK driving licence willingness to travel to sites across Scotland.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical and environmental software (e.g., HoleBASE, gINT, GIS).
  • Background with AutoCAD or similar drafting/design tools.
  • Knowledge of UK planning regulations and environmental legislation.
  • Understanding of laboratory testing procedures for soils and materials.
  • Ability to contribute to tender documents and fee proposals.

On offer
  • Competitive Salary – £33,000 – £35,000
  • Broad Technical Exposure – gain experience across geotechnical and geoenvironmental scopes, not siloed into one discipline
  • Professional Development – mentorship from experienced engineers, support towards chartership, and encouragement to engage with industry institutions
  • Impactful Projects – involvement in residential, commercial, and infrastructure developments across Scotland and the wider UK
  • Collaborative Team Culture – small, supportive consultancy environment where innovation and teamwork are valued
