Geo-environmental/Geotechnical Engineer: Autonomy, Growth & Progression at this fast-growing SME Ground Investigation Company. This mainly remote-first role is based in Liverpool.

Overview
We are partnering with a fast-growing geotechnical and geo-environmental consultancy that entering a significant phase of expansion. The business is small, ambitious, and technically strong, and they are now looking to appoint a motivated engineer who wants responsibility, autonomy, and rapid progression.
 
You will work across both geotechnical and geo-environmental projects, gaining exposure far beyond what is typical in larger firms. As you develop, you will run your own jobs and manage client relationships. You will form the middle layer of the business as it scales and so, as more juniors and graduates join, you will naturally step into mentoring, project ownership, and leadership responsibilities.
 
This role involves Remote-first working: Engineers work from home when not on site, with flexible meetups for collaboration. No daily commute, no unnecessary office time, and no micromanagement. The team is close-knit, collaborative, and grounded. They value people who take pride in their work and enjoy being trusted to get on with things.

The Role
  • A hands-on, varied position covering the full lifecycle of ground investigation projects
  • Planning and delivering ground investigations
  • Logging, sampling, in-situ testing, drilling supervision
  • Producing factual and interpretive GI reports
  • Supporting both geotechnical and geo-environmental workstreams
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and regulators
  • Running your own jobs as you progress
  • Working independently on site and collaboratively with the wider team
  • You will spend approximately two to two and a half months per year working away, with all expenses covered and full support from the team.
 
Requirements
Essential
  • 1–5 years’ relevant track-record in ground investigation
  • Strong site investigation background
  • Ability to produce factual reports (interpretive background desirable)
  • Degree in Geology (preferred), Earth Sciences, Geo-Environmental, or Civil Engineering with GI background
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Comfortable working away when required
  • Able to work independently without close supervision
